18U Eagles Co-op

The Southwest Eagles High School 2 / 18U / Midget program, offered through Verona Youth Hockey with the support of Middleton Youth Hockey, is designed for high-school-aged players (typically ages 15-18) who have completed the Bantam program. The Southwest Eagles emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development in a supportive and competitive environment.

This Eagles offer two practices a week at the Verona Ice Arena and aim for more games than a typical HS program. It is an ideal program for those that do not make their HS team, are looking for more playing time and opportunities than their HS team, or are looking for a less intense weekly practice schedule.

• Eligibility: Players born between 2007, and 2010 (based on USA Hockey age classifications for 2025-2026 season).

• Season Duration: Typically runs from October through mid-March with games beginning in November.

• Tryouts: If the number of skaters is large enough there may be evaluations to determine teams.

• Team Structure: If the age range of players is evenly distributed with enough players for two teams, there would typically be a Major (18U) and a Minor (16U) team formed. Depending on registration numbers, teams may also include 18U A, or additional tiers (e.g., B or C). Teams compete in the Wisconsin Club High School Hockey League (WCHSHL) with opportunities for state and other tournaments.

• Practices: Typically 2 practices per week, held at the Verona Ice Arena. Practices focus on skill development, including skating, puck handling, shooting, and team strategies.

• Games: 2-4 games per weekend, with home games at Verona Ice Arena and away games within the region. Teams play approximately 40+ games per season, including league games, playoffs, and 3-4 tournaments.

• Tournaments: Teams participate in several weekend tournaments, including at least one local tournament and several travel tournaments. There will also be 2 - 3 travel weekends with games scheduled against teams further away such as Hudson and River Falls, and  Green Bay and  Marinette.

• Registration: Register by birth year through Verona Youth Hockey.

• Fees: $1,225 for the full season with $75 due at registration and a 4 payment plan of $287.50 per payment. Payments will be prorated if you begin with the 18U program and then make your HS team.

• Additional details: 18U players will be charged a $75 fee up front. For 18U players who register after the first payment is due on September 15th, your initial payment will be due at registration and the remaining balance will be divided up between the remaining payment dates. (Example: If you register on September 20th, one-quarter of your payment will be due at registration (in addition to the $75) and the other three-quarters will be divided up between the October 15th, November 15th, and December 15th payment dates.) Players who make their high school teams will have any unused ice fees refunded at the time they leave the 18U program (upon the return of any rental items such as jerseys).

• Equipment: Players are responsible for providing their own gear. Southwest Eagles game uniforms (home/away jerseys) will be provided.
