If you are interested in serving as an on-ice coach or assistant for any MYH activities, please follow the primary steps below prior to any team activities:

1. USA Hockey registration
2. Middleton Youth Hockey coach registration
3. USA Hockey background screen
4. SafeSport online training module
5. Player Development or Coaching Education Program (CEP) age-specific trainings.

Steps that require the payment of fees will be reimbursed by MYH at the end of the hockey season.

Step 1 - Register with USA Hockey as a Coach

Step 3 - Complete a USA Hockey Background Screening

In compliance with requirements from the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), USA Hockey has implemented a national level background screening policy. Background screens through NCSI under the national program will cost $30 for all domestic screens. On average, background screens take between 3-10 business days to complete. Background screens are valid for 2 years.

Step 4 - Complete USA Hockey SafeSport Training

SafeSport is free for USA Hockey-registered coaches. SafeSport relates to awareness and prevention of abuse. USA Hockey 'MyHockeyIQ' portal login required (USA Hockey # & password).

Once you have completed SafeSport, an annual refresher course is required each season. After completing a refresher for three seasons in a row - you will need to take the entire standard training (not a refresher) for the following season.

Step 5 - Complete Any Necessary CEP Coaching Certifications

Coaching Education Program (CEP) certification requirements must be completed by December 31st each year. You must have the appropriate Level 1,2,3, or 4 card that is up to date AND you must have completed the Age-Specific Module for each level that you are coaching.
