Volunteers Still Needed

As many of you know, Middleton Youth Hockey only functions due to the hard work and energy of our volunteers. Our parents, coaches, managers, board members, and other unpaid volunteers are what keep quality ice hockey happening for Middleton kids.

Beyond our required volunteer hours, we're always looking for more help to improve our programs, the quality of education & competition we can offer our hockey players, communication with our hockey families & community, and more!

We understand that your families are super busy. We know hockey is expensive. We understand that you work, run a household, care for family members, volunteer elsewhere, and so much more! If you can find a few extra hours during the hockey season (or off-season) to help us improve Middleton Youth Hockey, we would love to know more about you! Email info@middletonyouthockey.com or learn more about volunteering here.

Good Neighbor Fest - August 28th - 30th

Our biggest (mission-critical) fundraiser of the year is almost here! We’re excited to once again host the beer tent on the festival grounds. This is a great weekend of community and fundraising for the club, and we’ll need all hands on deck to make sure the event goes off without a hitch. This is also the best (and most fun) way to knock out those volunteer hours before the season even gets underway.

Volunteer slots ARE OPEN! Sign up here. (You’ll need to log into Crossbar.) Job descriptions are below.

Key events and dates to mark down:

MYH beer tent opens: Friday, Aug. 28 5pm

MYH Parent Happy Hour: Friday, Aug. 28 6-8pm

MYH Parade Float: Sunday, Aug. 30 12pm (Sign up here)

As a reminder, members with skaters in Mites and above are required to complete volunteer hours each season to receive their volunteer deposit at the end of the season.

1 skater mite and older: 7 hours are required

2 skaters mite and older: 12 hours (max) are required

Black-Puck CARDS Camp and Early Season

Our Squirt, PeeWee, and Bantam levels are excited to offer optional CARDS (Compete. Assess. Refine. Develop. Skate.) Camp sessions, beginning at the end of August, to “knock the rust off.” These sessions are not part of development assessments or a required pre-season team event.

CARDS Camp is designed to provide our players with early ice time and an opportunity to get back into hockey shape before development assessments and the regular season.

Black-Puck Development Assessments

We'll send out development assessment information soon so that you can add it to your calendars. 12U Peewee & 14U Bantam development assessments will begin on September 24th. 10U Squirt assessments will begin on October 15th. These dates are later than in past seasons to provide more cushion against conflicts with autumn activities and more practice before development assessments, so skaters can "tune up" a bit.

We will be in touch with more information, including when evaluation jerseys will be handed out and the assessment schedules & format.

10K Shot-Builder Program

Our off-season 10K Shot-Builder program is going strong, and you can still create a player account to get your skater practicing shooting pucks in the offseason at home. Please see the 10k information page for more information on how to participate.

You can also go to the HockeyShare player page to log your shots.

MYH Gear Swap Facebook Page

Kids grow fast, and hockey gear isn't cheap! Before you buy new, check out our new MYH Hockey Gear Swap Facebook page, where Middleton hockey families can buy, sell, and trade gently used equipment with one another.

Whether you're looking for the next size up in skates, clearing out gear your player has outgrown, or searching for a great deal, the Gear Swap is a great way to save money, reduce waste, and help fellow hockey families.

Join the group today and keep quality hockey gear in the MYH community.
