The 10U Mavericks is a developmental girls hockey program for players from Middleton and Verona. At this age, we focus heavily on individual skill development while helping players become more confident, creative, competitive, and connected teammates.

The game is becoming faster and more complex, but there is still plenty of time to develop. Our goal is to give players a positive environment where they can skate, handle the puck, make decisions, compete, try new things, and learn from mistakes.

10U Success Looks Like...

At 10U, success is about building a strong foundation and learning to love getting better.

We want players to skate with confidence, make simple hockey decisions, try new things, compete with enthusiasm, work through mistakes, and become great teammates.

For our Mavericks, success also means building friendships, supporting one another, and developing a strong sense of belonging within girls hockey.

10U Program Fees

The 10U Mavericks winter season is $1400 total. MYH offers a payment plan during registration.

Volunteering

Middleton Youth Hockey is volunteer-run. Each 8U family is required to volunteer 7 hours for a single-skater family or 12 hours for a multi-skater family.

The volunteer deposit is $200 for one skater and $400 for two or more skaters. The deposit is returned when the required hours are completed.

We're always looking for coaches, managers, game volunteers, event helpers, board members, and others who want to help improve MYH.

You can learn more about volunteering with Middleton Youth Hockey here.

Seven Ways You Can Make Squirts Great!

  1. Praise effort, attitude, and improvement.
  2. Encourage independence and responsibility.
  3. Support your player and her teammates.
  4. Trust the coaches and the development process.
  5. Help your player embrace challenges and mistakes.
  6. Keep hockey fun and in perspective.
  7. Coach or volunteer!

A final word for Mavericks Families

10U is about building a foundation—not finishing the job.

Players develop at different rates, and there is plenty of time for them to grow into the hockey players they will eventually become. Our job is to give them the opportunity to skate, handle the puck, make decisions, compete, experiment, and have fun while they're doing it.

Let them make mistakes. Let them try things. Let them learn.

And let them enjoy doing it together.
