Gear Rental for Young Players

Do you have young athletes interested in playing ice hockey but don't want to commit to buying all the expensive gear? Take advantage of our gear rental program aimed at our youngest skaters!

How much does the gear loan program cost?

A $150 deposit is required for a youth gear bag for the season. A portion of that $150 deposit, depending upon your player's age, will be returned to you once the rental gear is returned to MYH. We do it this way because bigger kids are just much harder on gear. This allows us to replace, repair or upgrade safety gear as needed.

Learn-to-Play: The full $150 will be refunded once gear is returned. That makes rental gear FREE for our youngest players!

Cross Ice: $125 will be refunded.

Red, White & Blue: $100 will be refunded.

Squirts: $50 will be refunded.

Exciting and new for this season: a player's first 2-month hockey session with Middleton Youth Hockey (generally Learn-to-Play but also Cross-Ice or Red, White & Blue) is completely free!

What hockey gear is included in our gear loan program?

• Shin pads, hockey pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, helmet.
• All programs include practice jerseys.

What gear is not included in the gear loan program?

• Skates, hockey stick, hockey socks, hockey shorts w/velcro or garter to keep socks up, hockey tape.

These essential items can generally be purchased via House of Hockey, Play-It-Again Sports, Dick's, Gold Medal Sports, or Pure Hockey.

Here is a nice, concise video on cutting a hockey stick at the proper height and then taping it with hockey tape. It's important to note: cut the stick at chin height if your player is wearing skates. Cut it at the height of the bottom of their nose if they're barefoot (not wearing skates).

How do I sign up and get the gear for my skater?

Be sure to select the rental gear option during your player registration process. You will be contacted prior to the season with pick up time options. We strongly encourage you to bring your hockey player along to gear pickup to ensure proper fit of all equipment. Our storage unit is at Tuck-A-Way storage, 2315 Pinehurst (just south of Suter's Legacy20 Ice Arena).
